I've been a San Jacinto County resident for 17 years and have lived in Texas since 1985. I joined FOSL earlier this year with a desire to help FOSL grow and provide greater support to the Shepherd Library.

I am honored to be a part of the Friends of Shepherd Library.

I love that the staff is the "bees knees".

Additionally, helping the staff has not only benefited me but also helped my kids become more social. The staff has also helped my kids learn new hobbies and be more open to reading.

FOSL plays a vital role in supporting the library by assisting with fundraising events, their time, and their passion for helping with what is needed.   Libraries are the heart of a strong community, and being part of a team dedicated to fostering a love for reading, lifelong learning, and connection for residents of all ages is deeply fulfilling.

I love Shepherd library. In the 15 years I have lived here, I have visited it every week, sometimes than once. I joined FOSL about two years later. Our membership has grown and we have been instrumental in helping with programs, materials, events and other items no covered by the library budget. I believe libraries are the most valuable facilities. They are open to all ages and essential offering services to many who cannot afford a computer, or who need help with fax or copy machines. In our library teens can come for a game night, young children have learned about the food and customs of other countries, adults can play bingo or listen to an author talk about their book. So come visit the library and enjoy yourself!

Eventually, he would join the teen program as well. As I got to know Terry and the other staff there was discussion on joining book club and bingo nights. It seemed silly to join a bingo group, but I could use a night away from the house. I had a blast that 1st night and haven't left since. I have made so many friends. I know that public libraries are dying out but I hope this one sticks around.

I have wanted to be a librarian since I was a toddler going to story time at my local library. I am honored that I am able to make that dream come true. Working with the library and the friends has been truly fufilling.

I have been told my whole life I'd make a good librarian, and while technology and social media is my passion I love that the FOSL lets me combine the two in a way that also can help others around me.
